Tosti

A hot, crispy grilled sandwich. The pinnacle of Dutch engineering.

🧂 Ingredients

  • Bread White or whole wheat, sliced
  • Butter To taste
  • Cheese Gouda, cheddar, emmental, etc.
  • Optional extras Ham, tomato, pesto, onion, etc.

📑 Steps

  1. Butter the outside of both slices of bread.
  2. Layer cheese (and any extras) between the slices.
  3. Grill your tosti:
    • Tosti iron: close and grill until golden, about 3–4 minutes.
    • Frying pan: toast on medium heat, flipping once, until golden on both sides.
    • Oven/grill: place on a baking sheet at 200°C until the cheese melts and bread is crispy.
  4. Cut diagonally. This is non-negotiable.
